Pixie Gingerbread House
The Pixie Gingerbread House was created as a fun, simple house to decorate and then donated to the Eugene Oregon Festival of Trees. This is an excellent gingerbread house for beginners - it's easy to build and plenty of room for fun decorations on the roof and walls. The approximate footprint/size of this house is 6 1/2" wide x 5" deep x 8" tall.
The walls are large enough that the front door can easily be placed on the side-gable wall or the front-gable wall.
This template does not include any indication for doors or windows, leaving all creativity to the builder. Graham crackers are the perfect building material for the addition of a porch or porch roof!
Gingerbread House Architectural Style
The Architectural inspiration for this gingerbread house is the Folk Side-Gabled Traditional style home, with a normal pitched open gable roof, and a chimney on the roof ridge.
This style of home flourished across America with the expansion of the railroads. Original folk houses built with logs, sod, or heavy frames were being abandoned for folk houses constructed with wood braced frames covered with wood sheathing.
