Overall People's Choice - Favorite Halloween Gingerbread Display
Best house on the block! The whole neighborhood gathers here for the annual Halloween party. The legend goes that some real monsters and other creatures like to sneak in, so enter at your own risk! The entire creation is edible (except for wood base and interior lighting). Gingerbread, isomalt, royal icing, fondant, licorice, rice crispy treats, candy corn, pocky, M&Ms, sour belts, gumdrops, starburst and jujubes were used for decoration. Used Heidi's template.
I wanted to recreate that creepy house in the older part of town - that one behind a tall gate with boarded up windows hiding secrets. A house that all the children are equally fascinated and terrified by that is particularly appealing as the leaves fall and the chill sets in.
I created this house using gingerbread, fondant, marshmallow, cereal, melted candies and chocolate.
